"Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things."

Peter Drucker

Austrian-born, American management writer  (1909 - 2005)

After working in IT development for 13 years, I founded Maxwell & Company in 1993, to help organizations with the design and implementation of “business systems”.

I had been something of a “go to guy” for troubled projects and had learned a great deal about what caused them to flounder.  I found that resolving technical issues was usually pretty straight forward.  Far more troublesome, was sorting out problems associated with initial planning and definition.  Troublesome because dealing with these problems almost always involved backing up to make another run at it.  I knew, from experience, that success hinged more on “doing the right things” then “doing [the wrong] things right.

So it’s about leadership.  Not the stand-out leadership you associate with "world class" sports coaches or the visionary leadership of brilliantly innovative business executives.  It’s the everyday leadership that Drucker wrote about.  The leadership of simple due-diligence.  Making sure that what you’re doing makes sense and being sure that the folks involved understand what they’re getting into.  In a service segment where success has become a relative metric, it’s important to be “doing the right things”.

MAC is about better planning.  The kind of planning that improves return-on-investment by supporting more efficient implementation and developing greater long-term viability.  We’re about working with you to get it right, the first time.
